Dear Friends,
On behalf of Master Chan and myself, I would like to thank each of you for your support in making the 40th Anniversary Show and weekend the successful events that they were!
The family members and friends who purchased tickets, the performers who practiced for so many hours, the people who worked behind the scenes, and the Wah Lum Sifus and students who traveled long distances to help celebrate are what made our weekend full of fellowship and fun.
Thanks go to the Guest Masters from Boston, England, Maryland, and NJ for their support and wonderful performances, which gave the audience insight into other skillful martial art styles. To Dr. Paul Kwan and Simu Suzy Chan, sincere thanks for directing the flow of the performances with your professional yet personal commentary.
Special thanks are in order for Mai Du for her efforts with helping me plan the event, coordinating the behind the scenes staff, the lion teams, and her school teams, and helping develop community support for the event; the Boston instructors for coordinating and preparing the team groups which allowed me to concentrate on the management of the event; Angele Caron who designed the colorful posters and fliers; Kathy Strissel who designed the program book, tickets, t-shirt, plaques and certificates….her tireless efforts are priceless; Paul Chan for his effort in generating sponsorship and ticket sales in the Chinatown community as well as for arranging the tremendous closing banquet. I would also like to thank Asian Spectrum for volunteering their services to film the event; you are good friends to Wah Lum Kung Fu.
The Boston Demo Team outdid themselves with their dynamic and crisp performance. The Malden teams, from Dragon Dance right to the Showdown, were very impressive. Mimi Chan and the Wah Lum Temple Team gave an electrifying and professional performance. All the Wah Lum Teams from N.E., Florida and Tennessee show great fellowship and dedication to the Wah Lum Kung Fu System.
Finally, I would like to thank my daughter Liz for helping me with office duties, communication projects, and committing to drive weekly from RI to practice and provide general assistance. And, of course, there is Marita…..behind the scenes putting up with me and tying up loose ends….all with a great sense of humor!
I look forward to working with everyone again in the future. Until then stay healthy and prosper.
